The new electric Ford Mustang Mach E has received the ADA system. The system allows you to remove your hands from the steering wheel while driving, as well as the driver to feel like a passenger.

According to the manufacturer, the new electric Ford Mustang Mach E will be equipped with a modern ADA (Active Drive Assist) system, which is also an active vehicle control system. The peculiarity of this mechanism is that while driving, the driver can remove his hands from the steering wheel. Models with this system will not go on sale until the second half of 2021.

According to company representatives, the ADA autonomous control system was developed for the Ford Mustang Mach E, thanks to which a hands-free driving mode was implemented. In order to test the operation of the system, the owners of the electric car Ford Mustang Mach E just need to download the update by air through the service of the Ford company. A car with ADA will be able to independently move along the route, which must be laid down in advance in the on-board navigation.

Given the ADA mechanism settings, the driver of the Ford Mustang Mach E will be able to take his hands off the steering wheel while driving, while still having to keep an eye on the road. Control of where the driver is looking will be carried out thanks to an infrared camera. If the system decides that the driver is distracted from control, it will give a sound signal and the driver will need to return his hands to the steering wheel.

The camera mechanism and the logic of the software are configured in such a way that the driver's eyes can recognize even in sunglasses or a mask, which is very important now. To track the route and potential obstacles in the vehicle's path, ADA uses a variety of sensors, sensors and data from other safety systems.

Initially, the system will be able to work in the United States and Canada, for these countries there are already the most accurate road maps. Over time, the manufacturer promises to finalize the maps of other countries, thereby expanding the geography of using Active Drive Assist for Ford vehicles.
