In this article, we will analyze everything that is connected with the ignition coil of a VAZ car of all models: its removal and replacement, performance check. Consider the cost of the part.

Engine ignition coil - this is the main part of the car ignition system, which serves as a conventional low-voltage DC-current converter, which is supplied from the battery or directly from the electric generator to high-voltage voltage for further supplying an electrical impulse to the spark plugs.

The coil is, figuratively speaking, the "heart" of the ignition system, because it creates a high voltage in it. This part is used in all modern ignition systems: electronic, contact and contactless... The ignition coil is essentially a 2-winding transformer.

This voltage converter is often called by motorists in everyday life "spool".

It should be noted that this part of the car is a fairly reliable design, therefore, it fails quite rarely. Its main malfunctions include:

  • breakage of the secondary winding;
  • coil closure;
  • breakdown of the cover.

The presence of a burnout crack indicates that its cover is broken. Open and turn short can be determined by measuring the resistance of the coils. Unlike such a necessity as, for example, "repairing the distributor", you should not try to repair the ignition coil - you just need to buy a new one.

Ignition coil price for VAZ

The cost of this component of the ignition system for VAZ cars is not high today. Used can be bought for 150? 200 rubles. The price of a new "bobbin" for a VAZ 2101 (B-117 St. Oskol "6") is 450 rubles, for a VAZ 2108 (027.3705 St. Oskol "6") - 490? 500 rubles or more.

A good new ignition coil K100 2108-3706010 (pictured above) for carburetor engines of VAZ 2108, 2109, 21099 (Lada Samara), 2110, 2111, 2112 cars costs 650 rubles.

The price of the ignition module 042 VAZ 2110 SOATE (photo above) in Russia is 1500 rubles.

Removing and replacing the ignition coil

In the event that cracks, chips, traces of oil leakage or overheating are observed on the plastic cover of this part, then it must be changed. To remove the low voltage converter, you will need keys 8 and 10.

Procedure for replacing the ignition coil:

1. First of all, turn off the engine of the car and disconnect the wire from the "-" terminal of the battery.

2. After that it is necessary to disconnect the central high-voltage wire from the "bobbin".

3. Then you need to unscrew the two fastening nuts with a key "8" and disconnect two wires from the terminals of the ignition coil.

4. At this stage it is required to unscrew one nut with a “10” wrench and loosen the tightening of the second nut securing the part to the bracket.

5. After that, you can remove it.

6. Replacing the ignition coil of a VAZ car with a new one takes place in the reverse order of removal, moreover, the blue wire must be connected to the "B" terminal, the red one - to the "K" terminal.

Checking the ignition coil VAZ

The standards for the parameters of the coil at an ambient temperature of +25 ° C should be equal to the following indicators. In the event that, after checking the electrical part, its parameters do not correspond to the following indicators, then the device must be replaced.

The procedure for checking the "bobbin":

1. First of all, it should be removed from the car.

2. If this is not possible, then you can check the ignition coil without removing it from the car. To do this, after disconnecting the wire from the "-" terminal of the storage battery, it is necessary to disconnect the voltage converter from the terminals of the wires (red and blue), and also pull out the central high-voltage wire.

3.In order to check the resistance of the primary winding of the coil, an ohmmeter must be connected to the low-voltage terminals of the coil. In this case, the resistance should be equal to 3122.3705 (0.43 ± 0.04) Ohm for the coil, and (0.42 ± 0.05) Ohm for 8352.12.

4. In order to check the resistance of the secondary winding of the coil, an ohmmeter should be connected to the low-voltage terminal "B" and the high-voltage terminal of the converter. The resistance for 3122.3705 should be (4.08 ± 0.40) kOhm, and for the coil 8352.12 - (5.00 ± 1.00) kOhm.

5. To test the insulation resistance to ground, connect an ohmmeter alternately to each terminal and to the ignition coil housing. The ohmmeter in all cases should show a resistance that exceeds 50 megohms.
