Recently, Nissan representatives announced that the company is developing a new line of engines for cars. that will operate on the basis of hydrogen fuel compounds.

At the same time, the company emphasizes that the owner of such a car will not have to refuel it with hydrogen. Ethyl alcohol will act as a fuel.

The basic idea is to produce hydrogen directly on board the vehicle using a special facility. Experts say that the car will need only ethyl alcohol and oxygen to produce ethanol, and the car will be completely environmentally friendly. CO2 emissions will be zero. It is noteworthy that such an engine will be undemanding to the strength of ethanol, which means that it can be refueled with either pure 96% alcohol or a mixture of water and alcohol - vodka. In any case, Nissan focuses on alcohol made from natural raw materials (see the review of the new Nissan Kicks 2017).

Note that ethanol has been produced for many years in both North and South America, and the amount produced is sufficient to refuel cars on both continents. The raw materials for ethanol production are corn and cane.

Currently, Nissan does not disclose information about which model of the automaker will be the first to try on such an exotic engine. At the same time, automotive experts do not exclude that the Japanese can take a more radical path and create a completely new model, as was done with the Leaf.
